About half way through my review, I lost all of the things  for my review so I’ll put up the matches and the need to know things from tonight’s episode of Impact:

The Matches:

Kurt Angle and Mick Foley vs Matt Morgan and Abyss

Abyss was worked on through most of the match. This was an ok main event. It didn’t have a ton of spots until the end. The finish saw Abyss fake a shot at Foley with the barbed wire bat, sending Foley into the Carbon Footprint.

TNA X Division Title Match: Samoa Joe (c) vs Amazing Red

This wasn’t a bad match, but it did make Red look weak. Red is a great wrestler and did some phenomenal things during the match, but if Bobby Lashley hadn’t come out, Red couldn’t have pulled the upset. Red got the win with a standing shooting star press.

TNA Legends Title Match: Kevin Nash (c) vs Hernandez

This was ruled a no contest after Eric Young interfered. No shocker here. Before that, the match was ok at best.

TNA Knockout Title Match: ODB (c) vs Tara

This was a quick one since there was only 20 minutes left in the show and the main event still to come. The crowd was not really into this match as much as the others. As expected, Awesome Kong came out and she is bringing a sledge hammer. ODB pins Tara after hitting the TKO.

Daniels and Suicide vs D’Angelo Dinero and Homicide

With Daniels, Suicide, and Dinero, you would think this would be a great match. This one left a lot to be suspected. During the match, Homicide attacks Willie Urbina and Hector Guerrero. The finish came when Dinero hit the Express on Daniels, when he went for the BME.

Knockout Tag Elimination Match: Madison Rayne, Velvet Sky, Alissa Flash, and Traci Brooks vs Hamada, Sarita, Taylor Wilde and Christy Hemme

The match was a good knockout match, with some fairly good wrestling. This wasn’t anything to write home to mom about, but the main issue was trying to squeeze an elimination match in a less than 10 minute spanm it doesn’t work. Rayne gains the victory after Lacey Von Erich hit a chokeslam on Sarita with the ref’s back turned.

What you need to know:

Abyss will face Mick Foley in a Monster’s Ball match at Bound For Glory. Foley tweaked the match so Dr. Stevie could be the special guest referee and Abyss can’t use thumbtacks.

Team 3D, Booker T and Scott Steiner, Beer Money Inc., and The British Invasion sign a contract for a ladder match between the four teams. The IWGP Tag Titles and the TNA Tag Titles will be on the line.

Kevin Nash will take on Eric Young and Hernandez at BFG for the Legend’s title.

My Thoughts: I will admit it. I was shocked at how good this pay per view was. There were dynamic matches and everyone was well done. I am one to say that the matches with just big men are something I have no interest in whatsoever, but Nash/Abyss was a good match. These weren’t the best matches of the year, though some could be argued that they are. This was the best pay per view this year with only Wrestlemania being the competition. It didn’t have a match as awesome and striking as Taker/Michaels, but it was put together better and had more in depth storylines than Wrestlemania.

I would like to stress that this wasn’t the greatest pay per view ever, but it is arguably the best one this year.

Joe then moves into a single leg crab: vintage Joe. Daniels climbs to his feet and Joe keeps working on the knee. Daniels hits a neckbreaker, leaving both men on the mat. Both men are up and Daniels throws some right hands and hits a flurry of clotheslines. Daniels hits a top rope clothesline for two and a lungblower for a two count. Daniels goes for a back drop, but he can’t lift him. Joe hits a half nelson suplex and Daniels kicks out after two. Daniels hits the STO and Daniels misses the BME. Joe hits the ensiguri and Daniels counters the muscle buster. Daniels misses the Angel’s Wings and the Last Rites, leading Daniels to be caught in the Cochina Clutch. Daniels has no choice but to tap out.

Mick Foley comes out to the ring to start another episode of TNA Impact. He says that he feels naked without the title on his shoulder. Foley says he will do everything possible to get it back there. He says that if Angle gets the title, it will go a certain way and same goes with Foley winning the title. Foley calls out Kurt Angle and he comes out to the ring. Foley says he admits that it hurt losing the title, but he knew Angle was going to play with his mind. Foley says he was wrapped up in barbed wire, but once he put on the ankle lock, Eric Young screwed him. Foley tells Angle that he has only quit once in his career, and that wasn’t real. Foley says he thinks he can be better than he has ever been and that he will not tap out. Foley asks for the match to be one on one with no interference PERIOD.

Angle says that he shows no compassion and that its about survival in this business. He says the Foley worked through pain, and the young stars don’t know how to do that. Sting comes out and says that the same garbage was fed to him to join the MEM. Sting says he will beat Joe and his handler throughout the arena. Sting asks for a match with Angle. Foley goes to talk, but Angle cuts him off and says yes and it will be a cage match.

Samoa Joe is beating up Red backstage and brings him out to the ring. Joe hits a clothesline and turns Red inside out. Red is then rolled into the ring and Joe continues to stomp Red. Red is then hit with the muscle buster and starts eating a ton of right hands. Security comes out and Joe goes to the back.

Lauren is with the new Knockout Sarita and she says that she hasn’t faced Alyssa Flash, but will do her best tonight.

Jeremy Borash is with Kurt Angle and he asks what he was thinking about agreeing to a match tonight. Angle says he wants to prove to the world that he is the real icon. Angle says the future of TNA relies on what happens at Victory Road.

Suicide vs Chris Sabin w/ Alex Shelley

Both men trade arm drags and Suicide locks in an arm lock. Sabin tries to drag Suicide out of the lock, but Suicide holds on to maintain control. Suicide gets a kick in the gut and a drop kick is hit. Sabin then gets caught on the second rope to take off the mask. Shelley kicks Suicide, but kicks out at two. Suicide lands a few shots and hits a side Russian leg sweep then hits a slingshot cutter for a two count. Sabin counters the Suicide Solution with an ensiguri, but is hit with a tumbling Samoan Drop.  Shelley hits a top rope assisted swinging neck breaker. Sabin puts Suicide in the tree of woe for the hesitation drop kick, but its countered into the Suicide solution for the win.

After the match, the Guns use a chair to take out Suicide with a springboard leg drop. Homicide comes out and chases the Guns out of the ring. Homicide cashes in his title shot and covers for a two count.  Homicide hits the Gringo Killa and pins Suicide to win the X Division Title. Continue reading
