About half way through my review, I lost all of the things  for my review so I’ll put up the matches and the need to know things from tonight’s episode of Impact:

The Matches:

Kurt Angle and Mick Foley vs Matt Morgan and Abyss

Abyss was worked on through most of the match. This was an ok main event. It didn’t have a ton of spots until the end. The finish saw Abyss fake a shot at Foley with the barbed wire bat, sending Foley into the Carbon Footprint.

TNA X Division Title Match: Samoa Joe (c) vs Amazing Red

This wasn’t a bad match, but it did make Red look weak. Red is a great wrestler and did some phenomenal things during the match, but if Bobby Lashley hadn’t come out, Red couldn’t have pulled the upset. Red got the win with a standing shooting star press.

TNA Legends Title Match: Kevin Nash (c) vs Hernandez

This was ruled a no contest after Eric Young interfered. No shocker here. Before that, the match was ok at best.

TNA Knockout Title Match: ODB (c) vs Tara

This was a quick one since there was only 20 minutes left in the show and the main event still to come. The crowd was not really into this match as much as the others. As expected, Awesome Kong came out and she is bringing a sledge hammer. ODB pins Tara after hitting the TKO.

Daniels and Suicide vs D’Angelo Dinero and Homicide

With Daniels, Suicide, and Dinero, you would think this would be a great match. This one left a lot to be suspected. During the match, Homicide attacks Willie Urbina and Hector Guerrero. The finish came when Dinero hit the Express on Daniels, when he went for the BME.

Knockout Tag Elimination Match: Madison Rayne, Velvet Sky, Alissa Flash, and Traci Brooks vs Hamada, Sarita, Taylor Wilde and Christy Hemme

The match was a good knockout match, with some fairly good wrestling. This wasn’t anything to write home to mom about, but the main issue was trying to squeeze an elimination match in a less than 10 minute spanm it doesn’t work. Rayne gains the victory after Lacey Von Erich hit a chokeslam on Sarita with the ref’s back turned.

What you need to know:

Abyss will face Mick Foley in a Monster’s Ball match at Bound For Glory. Foley tweaked the match so Dr. Stevie could be the special guest referee and Abyss can’t use thumbtacks.

Team 3D, Booker T and Scott Steiner, Beer Money Inc., and The British Invasion sign a contract for a ladder match between the four teams. The IWGP Tag Titles and the TNA Tag Titles will be on the line.

Kevin Nash will take on Eric Young and Hernandez at BFG for the Legend’s title.

X Division Title Match: Samoa Joe (c) W vs Christopher Daniels L

Bobby Lashley W vs Rhino L

TNA Heavyweight Title Match: Kurt Angle (c) L vs Sting vs Matt Morgan vs AJ Styles W vs Hernandez

My Thoughts: I will admit it. I was shocked at how good this pay per view was. There were dynamic matches and everyone was well done. I am one to say that the matches with just big men are something I have no interest in whatsoever, but Nash/Abyss was a good match. These weren’t the best matches of the year, though some could be argued that they are. This was the best pay per view this year with only Wrestlemania being the competition. It didn’t have a match as awesome and striking as Taker/Michaels, but it was put together better and had more in depth storylines than Wrestlemania.

I would like to stress that this wasn’t the greatest pay per view ever, but it is arguably the best one this year.

Knockout Tag Team Title Match

Madison Rayne and Velvet Sky vs Taylor Wilde and Sarita

Slick Johnson is thrown out by Earl Hebner before the match. Taylor Wilde uses Sarita to throw her onto Sky for a two count. Sarita uses a few more pin attempts and Wilde tags in. Wilde and Sarita use each other smartly as Rayne tags in. Sarita tries to avoid a move, only to haveRayne throw her down. Rayne and Velvet Sky use a double team move and Sky throws her twice by the hair. No surprise there. Sarita rolls through a pin attempt only to eat a boot. Rayne tags in again and puts in a headlock. Rayne hits a swinging neckbreaker for a two count and Sky is back in. Sarita hits a float over DDT as both women are down. Wilde and Rayne in now and Wilde throws a ton of dropkicks. Wilde hits a backbreaker for a two count. Sarita hits a dropkick as wilde hits a bridging German suplex to gain the victory.

Here is the match card for TNA No Surrender tonight:

Hernandez vs Eric Young

Bounty vs Legends Title Match: Kevin Nash (c) vs Abyss

Knockout Tag Team Title Match: Madison Rayne and Velvet Sky vs Taylor Wilde and Sarita

TNA Knockout Title Match: ODB vs Cody Deaner

Lethal Lockdown Match: Scott Steiner and Booker T vs Team 3D vs The British Invasion vs Beer Money Inc.

X Division Title Match: Samoa Joe (c) vs Christopher Daniels

Bobby Lashley vs Rhino

TNA Heavyweight Title Match: Kurt Angle (c) vs Sting vs Matt Morgan vs AJ Styles

My Predictions:

Hernandez DESTROYS Eric Young. The only way EY wins is if Hernandez is interfered with, which is a possibility.

Nash collects the bounty and defeats Abyss.

Wilde and Sarita become the first ever TNA Knockout Tag Team champions.

ODB defeats the Deaner.

The British Invasion win after pinning Booker T.

Joe defeats Daniels

Lashley defeats Rhino because Neal distracts The War Machine.

AJ Styles will become the new TNA Heavyweight champion. I think this will set up a title vs retirement match between Sting and Styles at Bound for Glory.

Hector Guerrero comes out and he has a mic in hand. He says Hernandez won’t come out because EY got him disqualified.  Hector says Hernandez only wants to give back to the fans and he says the aren’t American, but it is their country. Hector says there is enough hate in the world and to end it. Gauntlet Match: Scott Steiner and Booker T vs Beer Money Inc. vs Team 3D vs The British Invasion

My Predictions:

AJ Styles and Daniels defeat Angle and Joe.

The Beautiful People defeat Madison Rayne and Roxxi. (This is my best guess as to who it is. It could be anyone who TNA wants to try out. Another thing to watch is, since this is a taped episode, what will come of the Beautiful People if they make it to No Surrender with Angelina Love being released?

Shocking TNA Release

Posted in News with tags , , , , , , , , on September 4, 2009 by biggman621

Former TNA Knockout champion Angelina Love has been released by the company. The release didn’t come from any issues in her performance, but from her working visa expriring. This means that the Canadian born wrestler will have to return to the land of maple syrup and wait on a new visa. The release is mandatory according to the law and frees Love up to go to the WWE or possibly return to TNA. Expect an injury angle being run with the knockout tag team tourny going on.

I have been very high on Love lately in the ring. She has a unique feel to her that I can’t put my finger on. She was a special wrestler that is a HUGE loss to TNA in the knockout division. This also means Velvet Sky will have to go it alone and we will see how well that works out. It is a shame since Love was one of the most technically sound wrestlers in either women’s division that I have seen. I hope all works out for her and wish her luck in her future.
