Another ROH Star Jumping Ship

Posted in News with tags , , , , , , , on September 4, 2009 by biggman621

Former Ring of Honor champion Nigel McGuinness has agreed in principle to a deal with the WWE. No specific details are available at this point, but it seems that he may go to the main roster like Brian Danielson.

This is another big blow to ROH and I begin to wonder if they will be able to stay afloat with all of their stars seemingly looking to move on to either TNA or WWE. I think this will be the first couple in a long line of stars leaving ROH for other companies.

Maryse will undergo surgery to repair a dislocated knee cap. She injured the knee cap last winter, but was able to avoid surgery until now.

Chris Masters made his return to RAW this Monday night in the beat the clock challenge against MVP. The two battled to a double count out, but a rivalry might have just started.

The main event at SummerSlam will be John Cena vs Randy Orton for the thousandth time.

Nigel McGuinness was injured Friday night during a match with Jerry Lynn. He was recieving a Cradle Piledriver, but slipped out of the hold. There is no heat on Lynn for the miscue.

AJ Styles suffered a staph infection in his leg earlier this week. Jeremy Borash said on his Twitter page that Styles was ok minus the hole in his leg. He isn’t expected to miss any ring time.

Former WWE star Elijah Burke has signed with TNA.

WrestlingInc has a very interesting article up by Tim Brown on how some of the creative team members will be affected with Jeff Jarrett’s absence. One interesting addition to the article is former TNA and current ECW champion Christian.

TNA Impact’s 200th episode is tonight on Spike TV. My preview will be up later today.

In the latest TNA web match, Lethal Consequences takes on The Motor City Machine Guns. This was another good match for both teams.

The Playstation Network has an online store where consumers can buy episodes of their favorite TV shows. TNA has all of the episodes of Impact from 2009 and all of the pay-per-view events thus far. In addition to TNA, Ring of Honor has put all eight of their episodes on HD Net in the store as well.

Mr. Kennedy Release Update

In another update on the Mr. Kennedy release, Kennedy is 100% healthy and the release had more to do with a move that could have hurt the WWE Champion Randy Orton. It appears that he will be looking for another opportunity to wrestle outside of the WWE.

I think he will be ending up being in either TNA, ROH, or in what I think may be the best fit for him, CHIKARA.

Nigel McGuiness Update

Nigel McGuiness will make his Ring of Honor return on June 26th against Claudio Castagnoli when ROH goes to Detroit, Michigan. This will be his first match sine Wrestlemania weekend when he suffered an arm injury.

Petey Williams update

This came in from wrestlinginc:

Former TNA Superstar Petey Williams will be at the Ring of Honor events when the company heads to Detroit and Chicago. It still remains to be seen whether he will be rejoining the company full time or if this is a special appearance.

There is a rumor that he could return to TNA to be Amazing Red‘s partner after former WWE star Paul London no showed a taping. Due to his commitments in Japan, he would not be taking the job. As we know, Suicide has taken London’s spot. Another rumored name was Sonjay Dutt.

This tells me that the company may be looking at both releases (Dutt and Williams) as mistakes, and I think that in the coming months, at least one of them would be back.

Just a quick reminder I will be covering TNA Impact this week live, like the past two weeks.
