Two TNA Firings

Posted in News with tags , , , , , , , , on September 16, 2009 by biggman621

BG James and Jim Cornette were both released from TNA today. Not too much is known about either release, but if I had to take a guess, it would be to limit Jeff Jarrett’s pull when he returns. BG James has been with the company almost the entire time. Jim Cornette joined as the face of TNA Management in 2006.

Tommy Dreamer confirmed that he suffered an injury during his match at Night of Champions. Dreamer was hit with a crutch and the butterfly screw cut into his tricep.

According to PWInsider, Scott D’Amore, former Team Canada coach, will be filling the role as Knockout Agent after Savio Vega was fired last week. D’Amore will be filling the position starting at Hard Justice and continuing through the next set of Impact tapings.

Speaking of Vega, with him and Dutch Mantel out of the way, it would appear the BG James and Jim Cornette might be the next two in line to go.

TNA has changed their taping schedule again. They will now film all four episodes over the course of two weeks.

For those of you who don’t know, Spin Cycle is a web show from TNA staring Jeremy Borash. JB has some TNA superstars on and they discuss topics from wrestling to pop culture and more. It is a pretty interesting show and it gives you an inside look into various TNA superstars thoughts. I liked this episode so much that I thought I would share it.

Sorry about the non-live review. I had some issues with my TV earlier.   There should be no issues for live blogs on upcoming Impacts and Sacrifice this Sunday.

Jeff Jarrett comes out to the ring, mic in hand and heads to the ring. He says that he was reacting and he will be putting up his share of TNA management. Jarrett said he was backed in a corner and he will be the fourth man. He says that after Sunday, Mick Foley won’t have the title.

Foley comes out at the ring and says Jarrett sounded like a woman in Lethal Lockdown. He says he hates Jarrett and his father. He talks about the match and agrees to the terms. Foley says that Eric Young will face Sting, Matt Morgan will face Kurt Angle, and Jeff Jarrett vs Samoa Joe.

Jeremy Borash is with Kurt Angle and he is looking for Sting.

Lauren is with Christopher Daniels and Suicide and he says that he wants to overcome the challenges in front of him.

Lethal Consequences vs The Motor City Machine Guns vs Christopher Daniels and Suicide

Jay Lethal and Daniels start out and they trade reversals with Daniels getting the best of it. Alex Shelley tags in for Lethal and the two trade kicks. Daniels hits Blue Thunder fora two count and Shelley goes to work. Shelley tags in Chris Sabin and they use a few big double team moves and Daniels is in bad shape. Sabin hits a back breaker and a knee drop for two. Creed is in and he is taken out by Daniels. Sabin tags in Shelley and Suicide is tagged in and cleaning house. Very fast paced action ending a Lethal Combination. Shelley goes for sliced bread and Suicide counters with with a sliding head slam and hits a devastating Lung Blower for the win. This was an awesome match. Look up this one on Youtube if you can find it. 4 out of 5 stars. Continue reading

Foley’s Climb

Posted in News, Wrestler Spotlight with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on April 20, 2009 by biggman621

Mick Foley has been an interesting character in the wrestling industry since he got into it. Foley has won many championships, as well as the first Hardcore Championship. He developed the meaning of hardcore wrestling and is still alive and kicking today. Now, as TNA Champion, he has to deal with even more people coming after the belt. I decided to take a trip down memory lane from the time he came to TNA to Lockdown. Join me in the trip as we pay tribute to one of the best in the game.

This should be a good episode.

Jeff Jarrett comes to the ring to address the Lethal Lockdown match. He talks about what happened last week with Samoa Joe not wanting to be the captain of the team. He names AJ Styles to be the captain of Team TNA. Styles says thanks but no thanks. He wants on the team, but doesn’t want to be captain. Styles says that he thinks Jarrett to be the captain, and they will win. Jarrett agrees and Scott Steiner comes out. Steiner tells Jarrett that AJ is right and takes a shot at the locker room. Steiner says that Jeff Jarrett and the MEM are the same.  Steiner brings up Jill (Jarrett’s wife who recently passed away) to protect his kids. He asked Jarrett who could he trust with his girls. Styles says that Jeff can trust the rest of the roster and his heart.  AJ challenges Steiner to the Lethal Lockdown Advantage Challenge match. This leads me to believe the “Fallen Angel” Christopher Daniels will be the final man at Lethal Lockdown.  You heard it here first.

Jeremy Borash is with the Main Event Mafia and asks about Steiner asking Jarrett into the mafia. He says it was the plan all along. Kurt Angle says that he will apologize to Sting tonight. He says that the last thing TNA needs is another person to invest their money in the company.

Lauren is with Sheik Abdul Bashir and he says that TNA management needs to worry because the USA will fall.

Lethal Consequences and LAX vs Sheik Abdul Bashir, Kiyoshi, and Team No Limit

Bashir and Homicide will start of the match. Homicide tags in Hernandez and Super Mex goes to work. Super Mex tags in “Black Machismo” Jay Lethal and Bashir drags Lethal into his corner. Yujiro tagges in and poses to the crowd. Kiyoshi is tagged in and hits a cross body block for a two count.  Lethal tags in Consequences Creed and he has right hands for Kiyoshi. Suicide dives from Jay Lethal and Homicide. Hernandez joins them outside levaing Bashir and Creed in the ring.  Sheik Abdul Bashir hits the DDT and pins Creed. A great match that needed to go longer. 3.5 out of 5 stars.

JB is with Jarrett and Mick Foley. Jarrett says that he regrets Foley buying into TNA. He says Foley is ridiculous. Foley is off his rocker.  Jarrett says he doesn’t understand that why Foley hit Sting.  Foley says that he has a big decision.

JB is with Jim Cornette and Team 3D.  Team 3D asks Jim Cornette if he will keep his promise. Rocco and Sal tell Cornette that they want Team 3D in the ring tonight.

The Beautiful People come out and talk to Mike Tenay and Don West at the announce table. They say that Taylor Wilde will be recieving a hair cut.

Mike Tenay is sitting with Foley for an exclusive interview and asks about what happened between him and Sting. He says that something snapped inside him and he may be selling himself short. He is talking about a huge elbow from high heights. Foley says that he never thought about the championship, but the action in the Impact Zone is infectious. Foley says that why not win the title?  Foley seems out of his mind.

Abyss’ therapy session with Dr. Stevie: This is another good episode. Dr. Stevie says that he shouldn’t have used weapon. The Doomsday Chamber of Blood  match will be Abyss and Matt Morgan at Lockdown. Dr. Stevie then physically abuses Abyss. This is an interesting twist in the storyline.

TNA Roughcut with Team 3D: Another great insight into the world of Team 3D.

Rocco and Sal vs Team 3D

James Storm and Robert Roode are at the announcers table.  I smell a Beer Money Inc. face turn. Rocco and Brother Ray start off. Ray and Sal go at it and it isn’t looking good. Big Rocco goes airborne and hits a splash on Brother Ray. Rocco and Sal are taking it to Brother Ray. Brother Ray hits a Book End on Sal. Devon is tagged in and Devon is clearing house. Devon gets a two count as Rocco hits a scoop slam. Rocco goes up to the top rope, but is met by Team 3D. Sal is hit with the 3D for the three count. Roode gives them the thumbs up. Beer Money comes in and hits Rocco and Sal as they beat up on Team 3D.  Beer Money hands the IWGP tage titles to Team 3D and leave the ring. The match wasn’t that good. 2 out of 5 stars.

JB is with Foley and he sees Samoa Joe. Joe says Mick can give him the MEM.

Lauren is with Beer Money and asks what happened there. Roode says that Beer Money is serious and that at Lockdown they want Team 3D at their best. From now until Lockdown, Beer Money has Team 3D’s backs.

Kurt Angle comes out to the ring with the rest of the Main Event Mafia to apologize to Sting.  Angle says he questioned everything about Sting and spit in his face. He says that he was wrong and apologizes. Angle extends his hand and Sting says that a simple handshake isn’t going to cut it.  Sting says the Angle is the biggest spoiled rotten brat in TNA. Sting says he isn’t buying into the apology. Sting walks out of the ring as Kevin Nash grabs the mic. Nash asks him what happened to turning the other cheek. Nash says that Angle needs him and he is the only one that can make it right.

Foley’s music hits as he appears up in the rafters. He says he has been getting acquainted with an old friend. By old friend, he means a baseball bat wrapped in barbed wire. He says that to make sure Sting is ready for Lockdown, Sting will have to face Samoa Joe.

Dr. Stevie is now with the Governor: This was slightly odd with the Governor becoming Daffney again.  This is going to be interesting with Daffney returning to her old self.

Madison Rayne w/ Angelina Love and Velvet Sky vs Taylor Wilde

The Beautiful People push Wilde in the ring and Rayne drops her across the rope. Wilde hits a calf kick for a two count. Madison Rayne counters with a few knee strikes and a swinging neck breaker. Bridging suplex by Wilde gets a two count.  Wilde with an interesting roll up and gets the pin.  The Beautiful People try to cut Wilde’s hair but she escapes.  The Beautiful People then tell Rayne to go after her. A very good Knockout match. 3 out of 5 stars.

We come out of commercial with The Beautiful People cutting Wilde’s hair. AJ Styles and Scott Steiner are on their way to the ring.

Lauren is with Jenna Morasca and asks about what Kurt said. Nash comes out and says that Angle said she was the hotest thing he’s ever seen and they walk out.

Lethal Lockdown Advantage Challenge match: AJ Styles vs Scott Steiner

Steiner uses the power game and knocks Styles with a shoulder block. AJ counters a whip into the corner with a reverse atomic drop and a clothesline. After a slew of hay makers, Steiner hits a scoop slam.  Stiener goes for a scoop slam, but as AJ is countering, Stiener hits him with a low blow.

We come out of commercial with AJ and Steiner down. Styles and Steinergoe shot for shot, leading to a bridging suplex for a two count. Styles went for a huracanrana, but Steiner countered into a powerbomb for a two count. AJ hits a back breaker and goes for the flying forearm, but the ref was in the way. Angle slides in a chair and Steiner swings at him, but AJ Styles hits the Pele. Jarrett goes after Angle, Jarret grabs the chair from Styles. Stiener plants AJ’s face on the chair and earns the three count. The MEM have a 1-0 advantage. A very good match that had me guessing. 4 out of 5 stars.

JB is with Sting and asks about his match with Samoa Joe tonight. Sting says the win, lose, or draw, he will survive and next week Foley will pay.

Sting vs Samoa Joe

Joe runs into the ring and goes right after Sting. A lot of back and forth action but Joe gets the better of it and throws the ref. Joe hits the Muscle Buster on Sting and then uses the choke. Booker T comes in, and Joe drills him.  Joe goes for the chair and slides it into the ring. Sharmell is begging Joe to stop, but he takes Sharmell out of the Impact Zone. A great spot but not a match.

Overall Promo Rating: 4 out of 5 stars.

Best Match: AJ Styles vs Scott Steiner

Worst Match: Team 3D vs MEM Security (Rocco and Sal)

Overall Rating:3.3 out of 5 stars.

TNA Impact Review 3/26/09

I am so excited for this 20 man Gauntlet match. The only issue I can see is that there is so much action I won’t be able to type as fast as the action is going. I will do my best though.

Jim Cornette is in the ring and says that Sting will take on Mick Foley will be for the TNA World Heavyweight Title. The rules of Lethal Lockdown are explained with the first two combatants having 5 minutes in the cage. Each wrestler will then come in every two minutes, alternating teams.

The Main Event Mafia come in on their own showing the disrespect to the rest of the locker room. Cornette says he assumes Kurt Angle has a question. Kurt asks why do they think everyone will get the same opportunity in the match. He says he has been elected team captain and the MEM will be a team. Kurt goes on to say that no one can stop the Main Event Mafia and there is nothing anyone can do to stop them.

Jeff Jarrett comes out and says he will be in the match tonight. He promises that Angle won’t be a captain. Jarrett throws a right hand at Angle and then all of the wrestlers break up the brawl.

Jeremy Borash is with the Main Event Mafia. Jenna Morasca was being escorted out by Kevin Nash. Angle says that Jarrett won’t make it to the match tonight and is going to go after him with a lead pipe.

TNA X Division Title Match: Suicide (c) vs Kiyoshi w/ Team No Limit

Kiyoshi hits a spinning kick and follows it up with a swinging neck breaker. Kiyoshi follows up with a fore arm strike and continues the offense. Kiyoshi throws Suicide out of the ring and Team No Limit takes him out. Suicide is being outsmarted and outpowered thus far in the match. Kiyoshi tries to hit the splash from the top rope and misses. Suicide connects on a couple kicks and a DDT for a two count. Suicide hits some knees and sends him into Yujiro. Suicide hits his finisher, the Suicide Solution, for the three count. A very good match and I wouldn’t be surprised to see Kiyoshi at Lockdown. 3 out of 5 stars.

Angle is in the hall heading to Jarrett’s office as we go to commercial.

Angle gets to the door where he is met by the rest of the locker room to make sure that Angle didn’t get through.

Lauren is with The Beautiful People and Madison Rayne. Angelina Love is happy heard the comment about Awesome Kong and they want the title. Velvet Sky said she passed the test last week, but now she has to rip Kong’s braids. I would like to see her try.

TNA Rough Cut with Brother Ray: He goes through his journey about how he got into the business.

Beer Money Inc. and Team 3D montage is pretty cool.

Mike Tenay is with both teams. Team 3D says how they love Philadelphia and they will walk out the champs. James Storm says that they will be the biggest team ever after the beat Team 3D. Robert Roode says that this is the most important match they have ever had. That will be an awesome match.

Lauren is with Sting and asks about the match and the face to face with him tonight. Sting says he has no idea what to say to him and he hasn’t done much that is logical. He says that if he decides to come armed, then Sting will too.

Lauren is with Mick Foley for his response to Sting. Foley will apologize to Sting. He seems relatively sincere….but it is Mick Foley so who knows.

Awesome Kong (c) and Raisha Saeed vs The Beautiful People w/ Madison Rayne

Velvet Sky and Raisha Saeed are in and Sky is in control early. Velvet Sky tags in Angelina Love and she calls out Awesome Kong. Can anyone say death wish? Kong just starts beating down Love. Velvet Sky receives a choke slam and Kong tags in Saeed. I will admit it I am pleasantly surprised by The Beautiful People and their wrestling skills. Raisha Saeed tries to gain some momentum. Angelina Love hits the Lights Out on Raisha Saeed for the three count. Kong takes out The Beautiful People and Madison Rayne before the hair cut can begin. I was very impressed by The Beautiful People and Awesome Kong. Raisha Saeed hurt this match because she didn’t look too good this week. 2 out of 5 stars. This would have been higher but Saeed killed the match for the other three.

Sting comes out to the ring for the confrontation with bat in hand. Sting calls Foley out to the ring and explain what is going on if he can. Foley comes out to the ring and he says that he doesn’t blame him for being angry. Foley says that it was a misunderstanding. He said that he was under the impression that he was saving Jarrett. This gets a ton of boos from the fans. Sting says it isn’t funny and that he was trying to protect him. Sting says he has left everything in the ring for the wrestlers and for the fans. Sting says that he did what he did out of respect and he is starting to lose it. Foley says that he doesn’t need pity and that the second he hit Sting the tables have turned. He says they aren’t talking about the other show (Wrestlemania for those not sure), the fans are talking about Lockdown. Foley says that they will be making history and he still has something in him. The crowd was noticeably split between Sting and Foley.

Abyss and AJ Styles are heading to the ring and will be the first two in the Gauntlet match.

20 Man Six Sides of Steel Gauntlet Match

I will do my best to keep up.

Entrants: Abyss, AJ Styles, Alex Shelley, “Black Machismo” Jay Lethal, Chris Sabin, Matt Morgan, Homicide, Scott Steiner, Consequences Creed, Rhino, Jeff Jarrett, Naito, Kurt Angle, Shane Sewell, Sheik Abdul Bashir, Booker T, Yujiro, “Showtime” Eric Young, Hernandez, Jeff Jarret (since he didn’t truely enter the match before), Samoa Joe

Eliminations: Matt Morgan, Homicide, Alex Shelley, Consequences Creed, Chris Sabin, Jay Lethal, Naito, Shane Sewell, AJ Styles, Booker T, Sheik Abdul Bashir, Abyss, Eric Young, Yujiro, Rhino, Hernandez, Steiner, Jeff Jarrett, Kurt Angle,

Abyss and AJ Styles are the first two entrants and they do have history. Styles goes after Abyss legs but Abyss is just too powerful. Abyss is in control as Styles’ punches aren’t doing much to the monster. Abyss hits Shock Treatment on AJ as Shelley comes out. Abyss powers down Shelley and Styles hits the forearm shot on Abyss. AJ starts to try to go after Alex Shelley. AJ regains control as Jay Lethal comes in. Jay Lethal is now going after Shelley and they trade shots going back and forth in opposite corners as we go to commercial.

Coming back out of commercial, We are told that Sabin came out and then Matt Morgan came out and he cleans house. Abyss hits the Black Hole Slam on Matt Morgan for the three count. Homicide then comes in and hits a series of suplexes and is in control. Everyone is fighting and exhausted as Scott Steiner comes out and takes out everyone as we go to commercial.

Coming out of commercial number 2, Consequences Creed enters as Homicide is eliminated. Lethal Consequences is working together as Rhino comes out. Rhino goes right after Scott Steiner, but no surprise there. Jeff Jarrett comes out, but Angle cuts him off to take him out. Angle grabs a chair and hits Jarrett’s arm. Naito of Team No limit comes into the cage next and hits a beautiful drop kick on Creed. Jarrett appears to have broken his arm. Naito is up on the top rope and misses the twisting Moonsault. Lethal hits the Lethal Combination on Alex Shelley and eliminates him. Angle comes in and makes Creed tap out and the follows with an Olympic slam on Chris Sabin and Jay Lethal, eliminating all three.

Coming out of the third commercial break, Naito was eliminated and Shane Sewell is in. Kurt Angle hits an Olympic slam on Sewell and eliminates him as Sheik Abdul Bashir comes out. AJ rolls Angle up for a two count. Sheki Abdul Bashir earns a two count as well.  Booker T is the next competitor to come out. Booker comes in and goes right after AJ Styles. Booker T hits the Book End on AJ Styles for the three count. Rhino then follows up with a Gore and a three count on Booker T. The next entrant is Yujiro of Team No Limit. Angle hits another Olympic Slam on Bashir and eliminates him just as “Showtime” Eric Young comes in.  Abyss is pinned by Kurt Angle and Scott Steiner to eliminate him. EY takes an Olympic slam and pins Eric Young for the three count. Rhino eliminates the Yujiro and Angle eliminates Rhino.  Hernandez comes out and now has to deal with Angle and Steiner. Super Mex is taking out Angle and Steiner. Hernandez is hit with another Olympic slam and eliminates him. Jarrett gets back into the ring since he didn’t get into the match intially. Jarrett rolls up Angle for a two count. Jarrett hits Steiner with The Stroke and pins him for a three count. Jarrett hits the stroke but the count is broken up by Steiner. Kurt Angle elminates Jeff Jarrett as Samoa Joe gets into the ring. Joe is hit with an Olympic slam but it doesn’t phase Joe. Samoa Joe hits the Muscle Buster and gets the pinfall. Joe and Angle will be the two captains at Lockdown. Incredible match period. The best match I have ever seen on Impact. 5 out of 5 stars.

JB is with Angle and he is obviously upset. He says Jeff Jarrett was eliminated multiple times.  He says that the MEM made a mistake and didn’t end Joe’s career.

Jim Cornette is being harassed by Don West about the whole Jarrett thing.

Samoa Joe says he is only interested in torturing the Main Event Mafia, and he will be bringing his knife to Lethal Lockdown.

Overall Promo: 4 out of 5. This was the best promo Impact I have seen in a while.

Overall Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars.

Best Match: 20 Man Gauntlet

Worst Match: Awesome Kong and Raisha Saeed vs The Beautiful People

TNA Impact Review 3/19/09

Posted in News, TV show reviews with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on March 19, 2009 by biggman621

I like the dynamic between Mike Tenay and Don West. The heel commentator has been missing from wrestling for far too long.

One thing I am curious to see is the Team 3D/ Beer Money Inc storyline.

The Main Event Mafia is heading to the ring. Scott Steiner is with them wearing a mask. Kurt Angle has the mic. He says Sting showed his true colors at Destination X when had his hand held up by Mick Foley. Sting says he owes Kurt nothing. Nash agrees, but he owes the mafia something.

After some garbage from Angle, Jeff Jarrett comes out to say that Angle has no part in making matches. Angle says its just Jarrett and Angle protecting Sting. Angle says Sting has no integrity. Angle goes on and calls Sting a liar. Sting grabs the mic and says he would love to be in the ring with the Foley, Jarrett, and Angle, but it isn’t possible.

Foley comes to the ring and says that he is a wrestler deep down and he is in for a match tonight. Jarrett says it isn’t what Mick wants. Angle thinks it is what Jarrett wants and challenges Jeff. Angle tells Jeff to man up. Jeff says ok and it ends tonight. It will be Jeff Jarrett and Mick Foley vs Kurt Angle and Sting.

The Motor City Machine Guns vs Team No Limits w/ Kiyoshi

Sabin and Yujiro will start off. The Guns go to work early, but a blind tag allows Naito, which leads to some very intricate double team moves. Sabin hits a tornado DDT on Yujiro and Shelley is tagged in. After a double team move, Shelley gets a two count. Shelley hits Sabin with a clothesline. Yujiro tags out and Naito hits some interesting moves ending with a two count on Sabin. After a flurry of signature moves, Sabin and Shelley double team Nito. Sabin hits a hurricanrana, but Naito rolls through for the three count. Good Match with a solid finish. 3 out of 5.

After the match, Beer Money take Team No Limits out. Robert Roode calls out Team 3D and they come out. Robert Roode says that Storm and he respects Team 3D. Roode lists the accomplishments and says that no one takes Beer Money seriously. At Lockdown, Beer Money Inc. will face Team 3D and beat them to gain the respect they deserve. Brother Ray says that at Lockdown there will be the New Japan Tag Titles on the line as well. There will be a title unification match at Lockdown between Team 3D and Beer Money Inc.

Jeremy Borash is with Mick Foley and Jeff Jarrett and they are arguing about the match tonight. Foley says that he didn’t get involved in TNA not to wrestle. He wants just a little match here and there to be ok. Foley wants to do the match for the right reasons and Jarrett should too.

Recap of One Night with ODB which leads to the Knockout tag team match. Cody Deaner is in attendance, remember what I said in my preview: look for Deaner to get involved.

Raisha Saeed and Awesome Kong vs Taylor Wilde and ODB

ODB and Saeed will start us off. Fairly slow start with ODB getting control of Saeed. Wilde comes in and hits a huricanrana and tags in ODB. Saeed reverses a whip and sends ODB into the corner. Kong is tagged in and she goes to work on ODB. Saeed hits a curb stomp, which is good enough for a two count. ODB and Saeed hit a double clothesline, with both trying to make a tag. Wilde and Kong are tagged in and a missle dropkick from Wide finally knocks Kong down. Kong goes for a press slams and Wilde rolls her up for a three count. Another solid match. 3 out of 5 stars.

After the match,Kong hits the Implant Buster on ODB and goes for an Awesome Bomb. Cody Deaner hits the ring and eventually gets Kong to back off.

JB is with Angle and starts kissing up immediately. JB wants to share some notes with Angle. He goes over his notes of what happened in the match with all involved in the match at Destination X. JB asks if Angle thinks his actions are the reason why he lost.

Sheik Abdul Bashir vs Samoa Joe

Samoa Joe charges the ring and just destroys Bashir. Joe uses the announce table as a weapon and he hauls Bashir out of the Impact Zone. This is a mirror image of what happened at Destination X with Steiner. We may or may not have an entire roster with masks in the near future. The match was thrown out so I won’t give it a rating. The only issue I have is that Joe hasn’t been in a match. Since he’s one of my favorite wrestlers, it is bothersome.

Lauren is with the Beautiful People. Cute Kip has been placed on “probation,” meaning he is done in a wrestling role with TNA. Angelina Love says that they are the most beautiful people to grace the world. The Beautiful People are initiating Madison Rayne into Mi Pi Sexy. This could get very interesting very quickly.

Jim Cornette introduces the new TNA Legends Champion AJ Styles. He is the first grand slam champion. Cornette congratulates AJ as there are “AJ” chants in the crowd. AJ Styles says that this is a huge step for the Frontline. AJ Styles says that he will give anyone who deserves it a chance at the title. Booker T comes out and says he is the true champion…i think. AJ says he has no idea and says Booker T doesn’t deserve it. Sharmell says he will get the title on his own time. I understood Sharmell slightly more than Booker.

Madison Rayne with The Beautiful People vs The Governor

Madison Rayne has control early, but the Governor rolls her up into a sharpshooter. She then hits a cross body block for a two count. The Governor hits a swinging neckbreaker and starts to gain momentum. She is hit with a hip bump, which is good enough for a two count. After more interference from the Beautiful People, Madison Rayne goes for a suplex and the Governor rolls her up into a small package for the three count. Not a terrible match, but so far the worst tonight. 1.5 out of 5 stars.

Angelina Love comes in after the match and hits the Lights Out. Madison Rayne then grabs scissors and cut a chunk of the Governor’s hair off.

Samoa Joe has Bashir rigged upside down and he says no one wants Bashir here. He tells Bashir to go back where he comes from and to tell the others not to interfere with his plan. Joe then uses Bashir as a Pinata, but instead of a bat, he uses a kendo stick. Who knew torture could be this entertaining?

TNA Roughcut with Brother Devon: Another great segment.

Kurt Angle and Sting vs Jeff Jarrett and Mick Foley

Jarret and Angle start off the match. Remember, I don’t expect Angle to tag in Sting so look for that. Tenay announces that there will be a 20 man Gaunlet in the Six Sides of Steel to determine the team captains for Lethal Lockdown. Foley is in now and he out wrestled Angle. Foley is attacked by Main Event Mafia security. Team 3D comes out to take care of Rocco and Sal. Angle hits Foley with a chair and an Angle Slam. Jarrett is calling for help as we go to commercial,

Coming out of the commercial, Angle is working on Foley’s right leg. Sting tries to tag in but Angle pulls away. Angle pulls Foley up after two, and Sting gets in his face. Angle takes out Sting, but Jarrett goes after Angle. Jarrett takes out the ref, which allows Angle to grab a chair. Sting takes the guitar out of Jarrett’s hand, but is hit by a chair courtesy of Mick Foley. Great match and a definite show stopper. 4 out of 5 stars. I think the finish will lead to Foley/ Sting at Lockdown.

Sting is up and looking extremely confused. He grabs the mic and tells Foley that he has been hit twice with a chair. The challenge is official from Sting to Foley. JB asks Foley and he accepts the challenge. Foley says Sting inspired him and that Sting said Foley had enough. Foley says he will tear Sting apart.

I am very eager to see what happens in this pay per view. If you want to know my predictions  and what to look for, just scroll down a couple posts.

The Beautiful People and Madison Rayne vs Roxxi, Taylor Wilde, and The Governor

The Governor and Velvet Sky will be starting the match off.  Thereis a sign at ringside that says “Botchmania = This Match.” I am not entirely convinced that this match is a good show of that so far.  Angelina Love tags in Madison Rayne and The Beautiful People are isolating Roxxi in the corner.  Roxxi hits a sitout powerbomb on Love and tags in Wilde. Taylor Wilde cleans house and only gets a two count on Madison Rayne. The Governor goes over the top rope to take out Love and Sky. Taylor Wilde hits a bridging suplex for the three count. This wasn’t a bad match just too short. 2 out of 5 stars

During an interview with Lauren, the CG guy screwed up and put a Magnus graphic.

Magnus Open Challenge: Brutus Magnus vs Eric Young

Brutus Magnus issues the open challenge again and Eric Young answers the call. A naval officer comes into the ring and is special guest ring announcer.  I always enjoy EY matches so I am expecting nothing different.

Magnus takes control early and EY is getting tossed around like a rag doll. Magnus is calling for a finish and goes for a splash and misses. At least, I think i was a splash. EY hits the Death Valley Driver for the two count. EY hits a top rope elbow for a two count. The two trade pin attempts with no luck. EY gets cut off on the top rope. Magnus hits the Tormentum from the second rope for the pinfall victory.  This was a typical squash match, meant for nothing except to give Magnus a win.  Still, not a terrible match. 3 out of 5 stars.

Sheik Abdul Bashir says that he deserves to be in the ppv tonight. He claims it is a race thing. No surprise here. Jim Cornette comes to ringside and tells Bashir he will answer his questions.  Cornette says he isn’t in the show because no one likes him.  He says Bashir’s mouth is the problem, and tells him to leave the building. Cornette calls Officer Neil into the ring to sing “God Bless America.” Neil can’t sing for his life. Even the members of Milli Vanilli are saying “good god,  make him stop.”

10,000 Thumbtacks Match: “The Blueprint” Matt Morgan vs Abyss

Normally, I would be suprised that this match is so close to the beginning, but with the rest of the card as is, it makes sense. The way you win is if you go directly into the tacks.

Don West, by defending Bashir’s right to speak, is serving as almost the blunt logic side of the broadcast team, which should lend into his heel persona. I got to admit I like it.

Morgan starts the match in complete control. Abyss moves the two thumbtack trays to the ring. Well, I know what the out come will be now. It is just a matter of how we get there now.  Morgan regains control and grabs the bag of thumbtacks. Morgan tries to put Abyss’s face into the tacks. Abyss hits the splash in the corner twice and goes for the second bag of tacks. “We want tacks” chants can be heard in the background. Morgan hits the Carbon Footprint, and goes to get a chair. Abyss sends Morgan into the chair and takes out the second bag of tacks. Abyss is going to try a powerbomb  but Abyss counters Morgan’s clothesline into a black hole slam. The bag Abyss brought contained glass. Matt Morgan is on the edge, but we know whats going to happen. Morgan hits the Carbon Footprint on Abyss, sending him onto the trays of tacks like i thought. A match that could have been good, ended up being extremely predictable. 1 out of 5 stars.

One Night with ODB finals:

I have rooted for Shark Boy since the start. The couple of ODB and Shark Boy would be absolutely hilarious.  ODB looks as gone as ever, but she looks a lot better then if she was wrestling. She looks more like she did when I saw her live. Jeremy Borash is out to do some commentary. This should be hilarious. The three finalists are Cody Deaner (sounds oddly like Tommy Dreamer: coincidence?), Shark Boy, and Bernie Weber.

ODB wants to know why he should win. Deaner says he only needs 60 minutes with her. Shark Boy says he only needs 23 minutes and can do it twice. Weber says he has money, pretty weak.

Next thing they do is dance. We have a dance off folks. JB will call the moves. Weber is first and does the worst dance EVER. Shark Boy is next and apparently ODB got finned. Cody Deaner is up next and he dedicates the dance to Dale Earnhardt. Dale Sr. is turning in his grave here. JB’s commentary is just awesome.

The fans boo Weber out of the ring. Shark Boy gets a huge pop, and Deaner only gets a small cheer. ODB picks Deaner for the night with ODB. The cameras will capture every moment. If you just like a good laugh, one word describes this segment, EPIC. If you are just into the wrestling, well, at least Borash and Shark Boy were funny.

TNA Knockout Championship Match: Awesome Kong (c) vs Sojourner Bolt

I really don’t know how to feel about this match. I really don’t think Sojo deserves a title shot, but then again, that’s just my opinion. Within a minute, it is pretty obvious that Kong will retain. Sojo got a whole 5 moves in that were remotely offensive. This was a hard match to watch and I will admit it, I’m kind of disappointed with the ppv so far. Awesome Kong retains the title because of the Awesome Bomb.  1 out of 5 stars.

Samoa Joe vs. Scott Steiner

Samoa Joe/ Steiner match (if you want to call it that) was disappointing with the ref being knocked out by Joe. Steiner wins by DQ, leading to the two wrestlers brawling. The brawl led backstage. This was a throw away match, but it could have been something great. This was kind of a shame. I was looking forward to the confrontation.

TNA Legends Championship: Booker T (c) vs AJ Styles

AJ shows off some shoot wrestling moves to start off. Booker wrenches on the arm, which leads to a few reversals back and forth. Booker T finally gets some momentum from a clothesline and a couple slaps. AJ reverses a whip into a dropkick and a flying forearm. A few two counts later, Booker drops AJ on the top rope, which is followed by a spin kick. Then a top wrist lock is applied. AJ hits a Samoan drop, but Booker still holds onto the wrist. AJ and Booker trade clotheslines and AJ hits a backdrop on Booker. Booker goes for a sunset flip and AJ reverses into an attempted Styled clash. Booker T reverses with a superkick for a two count. AJ hits a bridging suplex for a two count. AJ tries for a flying forearm but Booker caught him with a calf kick. Booker goes for the Axe Kick which led to the Pele. AJ Styles hits the Styles Clash and pins booker T to win the Legends Championship belt. A great match and in true hero form celebrates with the fans. 4 out of 5 stars.

Joe is backstage and says Lauren should ask Steiner himself what he did. Very, very creepy.

TNA Tag Team Championship Match/ “Off the Wagon” Challenge: Beer Money Inc. (c) vs Team 3D

James Storm comes out with the beer goggles and the cooler cart. I  miss the beer helmet. Robert Roode and Brother Devon will start the action with Brother Ray trying to get the fans involved. In an interesting note, Jacqueline didn’t come out or appear for that matter with Beer Money. Maybe there is a reason for that,

Devon is showing his power early and tags in Brother Ray. Storm is tagged in now and after a slow start, Storm takes control. I also think the Storm taunt of Brother Ray of a walker. The dancing was also very funny. Devon and Ray double team Roode for a two count. Beer Money counters the Wassap into isolating Devon. After the double suplex and Beer Money chant, Devon counters into a double clothesline and tags in Brother Ray. Brother Ray whips both members of Beer Money and Ray hits a splash on both of them. Brother Ray hits a big elbow on James Storm. Roode hits that flip neckbreaker for a two count. Ray takes out Roode and Storm. Momentarily. Storm hits a hurricanrana to Brother Ray followed by a Roode splash from the top rope for a two count. Brother Ray hits the Bubba Bomb on Roode for a two count. Storm spit beer in Roodes face. Team 3D sets up for the 3D and Storm hits Ray with a chair, leading to a DQ.

Cornette restarts the match under no disqualification rules. Team 3D hits the 3D on Storm and Roode pulls the ref which would have lead to a three count. Fans are yelling “Bullshit” to the match as Roode and Storm leave the Impact Zone. Don West gets into it with Team 3D` and they want to hurt him. This was a great match and I can’t wait for the rematch at Lockdown when I see it live. It was just incredible. 4 out of 5 stars.

TNA X Division Title Match/ Ultimate X Match: Alex Shelley (c) vs Chris Sabin vs Consequences Creed vs “Black Machismo” Jay Lethal vs Suicide

The interviews with the wrestlers were a very smart way to lead into the match. The best line was Jay Lethal talking about the x. “Some people think it’s a shape, but I think it’s a letter.” That was sheer comedic gold.

This promises to be an absolutely incredible match, especially considering the participants. If this ultimate X match is the same as most, this will be hard to follow. The Guns focus first on Suicide, then move their attention on Lethal and Creed. Sabin appears to try and block for Shelley. Suicide knocks him down. The fans were chanting “Fallen Angel” for the man under the Suicide mask. This is such a nice touch especially since Christopher Daniels is the most experienced in the Ultimate X match, except for AJ Styles. Suicide and Sabin in the ring and Suicide is in control. Shelley kicks Suicide and tries for a baseball slide on Lethal. Lethal counters, tries a cross body and misses. Suicide tries a dive and catches a boot from Shelley. Suicide hits a rolling slam using creed as a battering ram for the other three. Lethal hits a dropkick as Suicide tries to shimmy across the ropes. Creed takes out the Guns with a double springboard bull dog. This match is too quick for my typing. “That was awesome” chants can be heard throughout the crowd. Creeds hits Suicide, and now there is a tower of doom situation which hits everyone except Suicide since he grabbed onto the ropes above the ring. Lethal catches Suicide and powerbombs him from the ropes. The Guns are hitting some incredible moves as is everyone. I honestly can’t keep up with the match. This is absolutely incredible. Sabin hits a release suplex from the top rope. Shelley hits a top rop Sliced Bread as Sabin hits a powerbomb on Creed. Shelley is climbing up the trust as Suicide is fighting him off. Suicide’s leg is caught in the trust and now Lethal, Creed, Sabin, and Suicide knocks all of them off of the center of the cross section. Suicide grabs the belt and that was an absolutely incredible match. You could tell it was Christopher Daniels from the leap, the same leap he made in the match with him and AJ Styles teaming up against LAX. Two words for this match: absolutely incredible. 5 out of 5 stars.

TNA World Heavyweight Title

Sting (c) vs Kurt Angle with Special Guest Referee: Jeff Jarrett and Special Guest Enforcer: Mick Foley

Angle is moving around trying to avoid any contact early. Angle lands a few right hands and kicks in the corner. Sting counters with a kick of his own and starts to mount an offense. Angle goes after Stings knee to no avail as he is sent out of the ring. Angle is sent over the top rope by Sting via a backdrop over the top rope. Sting and Angle take the match outside the ringside area for just a few minutes. Angle ducks under a clothesline and hits a backdrop to gain control of the match. A suplex earns Angle a two count. Sting gets caught and is on the receiving end of a belly to belly suplex and a back breaker, both resulting in near falls. Angle has a head lock on the champ. Sting and Angle both go for cross body blocks and both hit.

The two wrestlers trade blows, to which Sting gets some momentum, hitting the Stinger Splash. After Stings two count, he reverses the Olympic Slam into an arm drag, following up with a powerbomb. Angle goes for the 3 german suplexes, which only gets him a two count. Angle hits the Olympic Slam and Sting kicks out after two. Angle goes to the top rope and hits the moonsault for another two count. Angle hits another German Suplex. Sting reverses a second one into a Scorpion Death Drop, for a two count. Mick Foley has yet to interfere at this point. Angle clotheslines Jarrett. Sting gets the Scorpion Death Lock, with Angle tapping and no ref. Angle kicks Foley in the Jewels and goes out of the ring for a steel chair. Foley grabs the chair and accidentally hits Sting. Sting kicks out after a two count. This is absolutely crazy. Angle spits in Jarretts face. Jarrett lands a right hand on Kurt Angle and Sting hits the Scorpion Death Drop, giving him the pinfall victory. A great match in its own right, but honestly, it was one of the best match of the night. 4 out of 5 stars.

Overall rating: 3 out of 5 stars.

Best Match: Ultimate X match

Worst Match: Tied between Matt Morgan vs Abyss and Awesome Kong vs Sojo Bolt

My predictions and a final note: I got five out of the eight matches announced. That isn’t too bad for me. I just want everyone to know that I will be attending Lockdown in Philadelphia, PA. If you are going and would like to meet me, send me a comment or email, and I will make arrangements to meet you.

TNA Impact Review 3/12/09

Look out for my post on the final card for Destination X.

I am interested more in what the rest of the match card will be for Destination X, than the actual show itself. The other really interesting thing is what Kurt Angle and Sting have to say tonight.

Angle comes out first to cut a promo about what happened last night and the title match on Sunday. Mike Tenay lets us know that Don West isn’t at the desk for some reason.

Angle calls Jeff Jarrett out to the ring and Jarrett does just that. Mick Foley comes out with BG James and they try to convince Jarrett to go back to the hotel. Foley asks Angle if he has lost his mind. Foley explains that 6 months ago he put his money into this company because he believed in AJ Styles, Samoa Joe and Angle.

Foley says the only one he can put his trust in is Sting. Foley tells Angle his reign of terror is over. Foley tells Kurt to hit him, Kurt backs off and goes back to the locker room.

Jeremy Borash is with Jim Cornette and Sting. Cornette tells Sting he needs a favor: Tonight pick someone to be in the spotlight and Angle do the same. Sting and Angle will be in the corner of the people they pick.

Lauren is with Mick Foley and Jenna Morasca. Jenna goes to talk about business. Lauren is being harassed by Matt Morgan. Lauren says no, but Morgan tells her that he gets what he wants. Also, the first Captain Caveman reference I have heard in a while.

“The War Machine” Rhino vs Sheik Abdul Bashir

I haven’t seen much of Rhino in recent weeks so we will see what happens. Rhino takes control early, and Don West finally arrives a solid 20 minutes into the show. Bashir goes to work on Rhino’s back. Bashir hits a neck breaker for a two count. Rhino hits a backdrop and keeps some control from there. Bashir gets rolled over into a small package. Rhino gets the victory and then eats a chair shot from Rhino. This was an entertaining match that could have been better or worse. 2 out of 5 stars

JB is with The Beautiful People and Madison Rayne. Velvet Sky says that the sides are even, now that they are Mi Pi Sexy. Not a bad promo but what’s with the Mi Pi Sexy thing? I thought the Beautiful People thing was great, but I am not feeling the Mi Pi Sexy thing.

In the Main Event Mafia locker room, Angle asks every member for help, but the issue is Scott Steiner and Booker r have a match tonight and Kevin Nash still is suffering from a staff infection. Angle gets annoyed and sends his bodyguards to get his pick.

Booker T is in Cornette’s office and makes Booker sign a contract that he won’t call the cops, so he can get his belt. Cornette says Booker is getting too old and will probably lose the belt. This means that AJ Styles will face Booker T for the Legends Title belt.

Sting and Eric Young are backstage talking about who he is going to choose. EY tells Sting that even though Sting doesn’t want him to wrestle, he wants that spot. Sting says that he respects that so Eric Young will be the wrestler that represents Sting.

Lauren is with Lethal Consequences and they discuss who they have chosen as their partners. They make fun of Steiner and Booker T. Jay Lethal says that Homicide and Hernandez will be their partners.

Angle is backstage with Kiyoshi. Kiyoshi only bows at Angle’s questions, which leads to Angle kicking Kiyoshi.

Team 3D and Abyss vs Beer Money Inc. and “The Blueprint” Matt Morgan in an Elimination Match

James Storm comes out to the ring with the cooler cart, and there is a new attachment to the cart. In front of the handlebars, there are longhorns placed. Robert Roode and Brother Devon start the match, with Roode taking control early. Devon hits and elbow drop for a two count. Brother Ray is tagged in, and after a double team move, Ray only gets a two count. James Storm pins Brother Devon after hitting the Last Call, eliminating Devon.

Coming out of commercial, Roode and Brother Ray are in the ring and Brother Ray gains control of the match, but James Storm spits beer in his face. James Storm is out of the running for the match. Brother Ray hits the Bubba Bomb on Roode for the three count. Matt Morgan comes in and Chokeslams on Brother Ray for a pin. This meansAbyss and Morgan are left.

Abyss has control and hits a slide slam, and Morgan kicks out of the pin. Morgan hits a Chokeslam on Abyss, and Abyss returns the favor. Abyss grabs the tacks and sees Lauren. Lauren begs him not to use the tacks. Matt Morgan hits the Carbon Footprint and pins Abyss for the three count. Lauren goes to check on Abyss, and Morgan backs her down into a corner. Abyss saves Lauren and sends Morgan out of the ring. Abyss agrees to the 10,000 tacks match against Matt Morgan at Destination X. The match was very good and I don’t have any complaints about it. 3.5 out of 5 stars

Tenay tells West to leave because he is ignorant. West says he is heading to the bar.

Abyss says Morgan is going to avenge everyone. Lauren begs him not to.

Madison Rayne w/ The Beautiful people vs Taylor Wilde w/ Roxxi and the Governor

Mick Foley is at the announce table with Tenay. Foley says he doesn’t like what West has been doing. Wilde is in control, which is relinquished to Madison Rayne thanks to a missed elbow drop. In the first five minutes, I can already tell there was a ton of mistakes. Taylor Wilde gets the pin as Madison Rayne is pushed by Traci Brooks. 2.5 out of 5 stars

Roxxi and the Governor are hit with the Beauty Mark and Lights Out.

Trash talking with ODB: JB looks so sad right now just asking what it takes for ODB to go all the way with her. Borrash is mounted by ODB. I am still rolling about this one.

The MEM comes out to the ring as they go to commercial. My guess is they cut a promo and then have the 8 man tag match.

The MEM says that Don West needs to be out there not Foley. This leads to a shouting match between Foley and Booker. An unusual amount of tension is in this show. Foley is hit from behind by Scott Steiner with a steel pipe. Foley is bleeding from the back of his head. This was brilliant, especially considering the audiences reaction to the event. I know from experience that when something like that happens and you see the EMTs come out, you start to wonder if the entire segment went as planned.

TNA Rough Cut: The Ultimate X Title Match: The rough cut segments are awesome.

Lethal Consequences and LAX vs Booker T, Scott Steiner, and The Motor City Machine Guns

I honestly can’t say I am surprised.  Homicide and Alex Shelley start it off. Hernandez is tagged in and he turns the offense on.  Black Machismo is tagged in and keeps Shelley occupied. Creed is tagged in and then Shelley takes control of the match.  Booker T is in now as him and Scott Steiner are keeping Creed isolated.  Steiner hits a couple of chops in the corner and follows it with a belly to belly slam. Shelley and Sabin try a double team move, but Creed is able to tag in Lethal. A springboard elbow gets a two count .  The match has broken down and now its Sabin and Hernandez in the ring. Super Mex hits the Border Toss and pins Chris Sabin for the win.  A very fun match to watch.  3.5 out of 5 stars.

JB is with BG James and Mick Folley in the office. Mick Foley says that he has to be at ringside. Mick Foley says that he will be there and things will change. Foley says it wasn’t supposed to change, but he is happy it did. That’s followed by the scariest laugh I have heard in a while.

Angle is with Brutus Magnus in the MEM locker room. Magnus turns him down, so he resorts Rocco from MEM’s security.

Rocco w/ Kurt Angle vs Eric Young w/ Sting

Angle has been shut down up until this point so we will see how good he is.  Rocco is a big dude. Young is connects on a few shots, but the runs into the brick wall known as Rocco.  EY is thrown out of one corner into another one.  Rocco hits a splash and is visibly out of breath. Young tries a cross body and gets caught. The 400 punder went for a splash and missed. EY counters and hits a Death Valley Driver. Eric Young then pins Rocco.  Good match but not a stong finish. 2 out of 5 stars.

EY is hit from behind and Sting is taken out by Angle. Foley charges and takes out everyone. Sting is being beaten down to.  Jeff Jarrett comes in with a chair and he cleans house. Sting blocks Jarrett from hitting Steiner and Nash.  Jarrett says that he will be the referee and Mick Foley will be the Special Guest Enforcer.

Promo Rating: 4 out of 5 stars

Best Promo: Jeremy Borash and ODB

Worst Promo: The Beautiful People

Overall Rating: 2.9 out of 5 stars

Best Match: Tie: Team 3D and Abyss vs Beer Money and Matt Morgan/  Lethal Consequences and LAX vs Booker T, Scott Steiner and The Motor City Machine Guns

Worst Match: Tie:  Eric Young vs Rocco/ Sheik Abdul Bashir vs Rhino

I went 2 for 4. I am counting the 8 man tag winners and the partners as two different guesses.
