Mr. Kennedy Release Update

Posted in News with tags , , , , , , , , on May 30, 2009 by biggman621

In another update on the Mr. Kennedy release, Kennedy is 100% healthy and the release had more to do with a move that could have hurt the WWE Champion Randy Orton. It appears that he will be looking for another opportunity to wrestle outside of the WWE.

I think he will be ending up being in either TNA, ROH, or in what I think may be the best fit for him, CHIKARA.

Chuck Taylor Video

Just a couple videos:

This is a video of a CHIKARA match between The Colony (Fire Ant, Soldier Ant, and Worker Ant) and F.I.S.T. (Gran Akuma, Chuck Taylor, and Icarus). The particular segment is one of the funniest things I have seen in a wrestling ring.  There are couple more videos of Chuck Taylor, all of which I recommend. Keep it here soon for my best of CHIKARA finishers.

This one is the same idea just with Worker Ant and everyone gets into the act.

Interview and a note

Look out for my preview and predictions for Wrestlemania 25 tomorrow.

This was an interview I did with a friend of mine, Alex Costa. She is NOT a wrestling fan and has never been to a live event. I decided to get her input on the entire experience. Below is the interview I conducted after the first night of CHIKARA‘s King of Trios.

450 splash: So, this was the first wrestling event you have ever been to right?

Alex Costa: Yes

450: What was your overall impression on the CHIKARA event?

AC: It was cool how it was set up and everything, like how the wrestler’s intermingled with the crowd. One wrestler actually got into it with a young kid. He couldn’t be more than 8 years old. I also liked how they made it entertaining, not just “look at me wrestle this person.”

450: Which match did you like the best?

AC: I think I liked Team DDT vs The Future is Now because the trios were high flying and it was moving really fast, which made it very entertaining. It had enough elements of funniness and wrestling as well. Continue reading

CHIKARA King of Trios Update

After the second night, only four teams would remain. This is how it turned out for the King of Trios tournament.

F.I.S.T (Gran Akuma, Chuck Taylor, and Icarus) defeated The First Family (Darin Corbin, Arik Cannon, and Ryan Cruz)

The Future is Now (Equinox, Helios, and Lince Dorado) defeated The Osirian Portal (Amasis, Escorpion Egipico, and Ophidian)

The Unstable (Vin Gerard, STIGMA, and Colin Delaney) defeated Da Soul Touchaz (Willie Richardson, Trauma, and Marshe Rockett)

Team Uppercut (Claudio Castagnoli, Dave Taylor, and Bryan Danielson) defeated The Masters of a Thousand Holds (Mike Quackenbush, Jorge “Skayde” Rivera, and Johnny Saint)

The Final Four is set. The Unstable will take on Team Uppercut and F.I.S.T. will face The Future is Now.  The winners will face off at the end of the night with the winner being crowned King of Trios.

Be sure to look out for my slide show of pictures from the first night.

CHIKARA King of Trios Night 1 and Some Notes

Below are the result of the first night of CHIKARA‘s King of Trios. I will be posting pictures as soon as I upload them.

The First Family (Darin Corbin, Arik Cannon, and Ryan Cruz) defeated Team Epic War (Tony Kozina, Austin Aries, and Ryan Drago)

The Osirian Portal (Amasis, Escorpion Egipico, and Ophidian) defeated Team Pro Wrestling Guerilla (Nick Jackson, Matt Jackson, and El Generico)

Team Uppercut (Claudio Castagnoli, Dave Taylor, and Bryan Danielson) defeated The Roughnecks (Brodie Lee, Eddie Kingston, and Grizzly Redwood)

Da Soul Touchaz (Willie Richardson, Trauma, and Marshe Rockett) defeated Team CZW (Beef Wellington, Pinkie Sanchez, and Greg Excellent)

F.I.S.T (Gran Akuma, Chuck Taylor, and Icarus) defeated The Death Match Kings (Necro Butcher, Toby Klein, and Brain Damage)

The Future is Now (Equinox, Helios, and Lince Dorado) defeates Team DDT (Kota Ibushi, KUDO, and Michael Nakazawa)

The Masters of a Thousand Holds (Mike Quackenbush, Jorge “Skayde” Rivera, and Johnny Saint) defeated Incoherence (Frightmare, Hallowicked, and Delirious)

The Unstable (Vin Gerard, STIGMA, and Colin Delaney) defeated The Cold Front (Al Snow, Glacier, and D’Lo Brown [took Iceberg’s place])

My thoughts:

I went 2 for 8 on my predictions. Not my best work, but it was entertaining none the less. The event was incredible to say the least. I feel like I almost have to break it down.

The F1rst Family vs Team Epic War

I liked the turmoil on Epic War between Drago and Aries. This was a great opening match not much else needs to be said.

The Osirian Portal vs Team PWG

Four words. I LOVE EL GENERICO. He stole the show, but the other wrestlers were able to keep up.

Team Uppercut vs The Roughnecks

This was one of the best matches of the night. Bryan Danielson’s antics in messing with Grizzly Redwood was sheer genius. Redwood was the whipping boy in the end as Claudio Castagnoli swung him in a circle a full 100 times , which the led to Danielson using the Cattle Mutilation for the victory.

Da Soul Touchaz vs Team CZW

The funniest match of the night. I only wish Team CZW advanced because their antics are absolutely priceless. Between that and big Willie flying over the top rope, I was in heaven.

F.I.S.T. vs The Death Match Kings

Necro Butcher is the definition of a man’s man. The Kings just beat up anyone they saw. The show down between Necro and Akuma was epic to say the least.

The Future is Now vs Team DDT

This was a good match. I didn’t care for how it ended but that was the worst part.

The Masters of a Thousand Holds vs Incoherence

This was one of my least favorite matches. The match was severely one sided and there wasn’t a point where Incoherence had anything close to control. In a more pressing note, Mike Quackenbush had a hard landing on concrete and did not look good from that point on. Hopefully, he is ok.

The Unstable vs The Cold Front

I was shocked when they said Iceberg couldn’t make it to the event. They announced replacements ranging from Leif Cassidy to The Amazing Red. Then D’Lo Brown came out and my heart sank into my stomach. I watched as two of my childhood heroes, D’Lo Brown and Al Snow, wrestled valiantly. The word “glorious” doesn’t even begin to explain it.

For those who are curious, The matches for tonight are as follows:

The F1rst Family vs F.I.S.T.

The Osirian Portal vs The Future is Now

Team Uppercut vs The Masters of a Thousand Holds

Da Soul Touchaz vs The Unstable

New TNA Webmatch and updates

Posted in News, web match with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on March 25, 2009 by biggman621

There is a new webmatch on the TNA website.  In the latest instalment, Taylor Wilde and Madison Rayne face off.  A very good match between the two Knockouts.  The only issue was a botched Backbreaker, but outside of that and the absurd commentary, a very good match.

I would like to apologize for not posting yesterday. It was an EXTREMELY slow day for news.

Be sure to look out for the Preview and Review of Impact tomorrow, my reaction and results to CHIKARA’s King of Trios, and an interview.  I don’t know who the interview will be as of right now.  I am trying to get Necro Butcher, El Generico, Delirious, or Mike Quackenbush, but who knows if that will happen.

Another thing to be on the lookout for is my review of the movie The Wrestler. Spoilers will be in the review, so this will be your warning.
