TNA Impact Review 7/16/09

Mick Foley comes out to the ring to start another episode of TNA Impact. He says that he feels naked without the title on his shoulder. Foley says he will do everything possible to get it back there. He says that if Angle gets the title, it will go a certain way and same goes with Foley winning the title. Foley calls out Kurt Angle and he comes out to the ring. Foley says he admits that it hurt losing the title, but he knew Angle was going to play with his mind. Foley says he was wrapped up in barbed wire, but once he put on the ankle lock, Eric Young screwed him. Foley tells Angle that he has only quit once in his career, and that wasn’t real. Foley says he thinks he can be better than he has ever been and that he will not tap out. Foley asks for the match to be one on one with no interference PERIOD.

Angle says that he shows no compassion and that its about survival in this business. He says the Foley worked through pain, and the young stars don’t know how to do that. Sting comes out and says that the same garbage was fed to him to join the MEM. Sting says he will beat Joe and his handler throughout the arena. Sting asks for a match with Angle. Foley goes to talk, but Angle cuts him off and says yes and it will be a cage match.

Samoa Joe is beating up Red backstage and brings him out to the ring. Joe hits a clothesline and turns Red inside out. Red is then rolled into the ring and Joe continues to stomp Red. Red is then hit with the muscle buster and starts eating a ton of right hands. Security comes out and Joe goes to the back.

Lauren is with the new Knockout Sarita and she says that she hasn’t faced Alyssa Flash, but will do her best tonight.

Jeremy Borash is with Kurt Angle and he asks what he was thinking about agreeing to a match tonight. Angle says he wants to prove to the world that he is the real icon. Angle says the future of TNA relies on what happens at Victory Road.

Suicide vs Chris Sabin w/ Alex Shelley

Both men trade arm drags and Suicide locks in an arm lock. Sabin tries to drag Suicide out of the lock, but Suicide holds on to maintain control. Suicide gets a kick in the gut and a drop kick is hit. Sabin then gets caught on the second rope to take off the mask. Shelley kicks Suicide, but kicks out at two. Suicide lands a few shots and hits a side Russian leg sweep then hits a slingshot cutter for a two count. Sabin counters the Suicide Solution with an ensiguri, but is hit with a tumbling Samoan Drop.  Shelley hits a top rope assisted swinging neck breaker. Sabin puts Suicide in the tree of woe for the hesitation drop kick, but its countered into the Suicide solution for the win.

After the match, the Guns use a chair to take out Suicide with a springboard leg drop. Homicide comes out and chases the Guns out of the ring. Homicide cashes in his title shot and covers for a two count.  Homicide hits the Gringo Killa and pins Suicide to win the X Division Title.

Lauren is with Homicide and that he is going to have a party tonight. I wish I  could join him.

The Beautiful People come out and Angelina Love is in a bee keeper outfit complete with hearts and a bow tie. Love says that she filed a complaint and she calls Tara an ugly freak show. Love says that she isn’t recognizing her win last week and it was a fluke. Love says the match wasn’t official and she is still the TNA Knockout champ. She says the title match will be official at Victory Road. Tara comes out and says the belt recognizes her as the TNA champ and accepts the challenge. Tara says that the spider likes dark and warm places and its in the  bee keeper outfit. Tara hits the Widow’s Peak and Love is lying motionless in the ring.

Alissa Flash vs Sarita

Flash spit her gum at Sarita, but is hit with an arm drag and a huge drop kick. Sarita hits a suicide dive and both women go to the outside. Flash hits Sarita with a scoop slam and then sends her into the guard rail. A series of kicks by Flash leads to a two count. Sarita lands a couple shots only to be sent into the corner. Flash gets on the second rope and kicks Sarita in the head repeatedly. Sarita hits a top rope cross body block for a two count. Flash then locks in a chin lock and hits a hip toss. Sarita rolls through into the arm bar, but then is hit with a curb stomp for a two count. A back suplex is hit by Flash for a two count. Flash uses the wheel barrow to send Sarita into the top turn buckle. Flash goes for a driver, but Sarita is able to counter into a victory roll for the win. Flash hits a Falcon Arrow after the match to lay Sarita out.

Lauren is with AJ Styles and asks about how he is dealing with his situation. He says it is what it is and he can bring is A game. Styles says he will take out the mafia piece by piece if he has to. Styles says Nash changed companies for the worst.

Beer Money Inc. and AJ Styles vs Scott Steiner, Booker T, and Kevin Nash

Styles and Steiner will start the match off and Steiner uses his patented power game. Styles answers a shoulder block with one of his own. Styles tags in Robert Roode and he unloads a couple right hands and hits a blockbuster on Steiner. Booker T is in now and Beer Money hits the Beer Money suplex and both members of Beer Money use Nash as a punching bag, leading to Styles hitting the flying forearm. The ring is cleared and only Nash and Styles are left. Styles lands a few punches and then is hit with a Jack knife Powerbomb to be eliminated.

Steiner is in and he hits the Steiner Liner on Roode. Booker T is in now and he lands a couple slaps. Roode avoids a big kick, and Storm and Steiner are tagged in. Storm hits an STO and hits a back stabber on Steiner for a two count. Roode hits a clothes line on Nash and both men go outside. Steiner pins Storm with a reverse STO to eliminate the Tennesee Cowboy.

Roode is hit with the Book End and is picked up at two. Booker T then hits a big kick and tags in Steiner. Steiner lands a big belly to belly slam and Roode kicks out after two. Nash is in now and he lands knees into Roode while in the corner.  Nash continues the beat down in the corner and then hits a short arm clothesline for a two count. Roode hits a low blow and pins Nash for a three count.

Belly to Belly suplex by Steiner is hit, but Roode is able to move out of the way of a Steiner Liner.  Roode hits a double clothes line and Roode hits  Steiner and Booker T with clothes lines. Roode hits a spinning neck breker and a spine buster for a two count on Booker T. Stiener puts Roode on the top rope, but Roode hits the Blockbuster on Steiner. Roode hits the Payoff, but Sharmell distracts the ref. Steiner and Booker T then use a Spinebuster/Side Kick combo to pin Roode.

JB is with Team 3D and he asks about the British Invasion. Devon says that it is a tragedy. He thought that the British Invasion had the skills but not the respect. Brother Ray says that they think they would have earned a little bit of respect and that they should be in the title match at Victory Road. Brutus Magnus says that they have signed the contract and the IWGP Titles are on the line. Team 3D take out Kiyoshi and Sheik Abdul Bashir as they were going to attack and go after the Brits.

Abyss is with Lauren and apologizes for what he has to do, and that he isn’t an animal. Abyss says that he has failed and he likes pain. Abyss then proceeds to stick thumbtacks into his body. Abyss says he doesn’t need Dr. Stevie anymore and they are going to have one last therapy session together.

Sting vs Kurt Angle

Both wrestlers lock up and Sting has a head lock in. Sting hits a shoulder block and Angle backs off to catch his breath. Sting goes to Angle’s back and both men trade reversals, leading to an arm lock from Angle. Sting lands an elbow and right hands. Sting hits a suplex for a two count. Angle rakes Sting’s eyes and sends Angle into the steel cage as we go to commercial.

Coming out of the break, Angle send Sting into the cage again. Angle stomps Sting and both men trade right hands. Sting lands a few clotheslines and puts Angle into the cage, which is good for a two count. Sting goes for a Scorpion Death Drop, but Angle is able to counter with shoulder blocks. Angle hits a German Suplex and goes for an Angle Slam. Sting hits an arm bar, as Joe attacks and grabs the key to the cage. Joe locks the cage again and Sting is waiting for Joe. Sting locks in the Scorpion Death Lock, and Joe has Sting in the Tazzmission and the MEM beat down Foley and Double J on the outside.
