TNA Impact Review 4/16/09

AJ Styles comes out to the ring to talk about his match and Jeff Jarret’s mistake that cost him the match. He says he wants to make sure they are on the same page come Lockdown.

Jarrett comes out to the ring. AJ says that he understands Jarrett is under a lot of pressure and he wants to know if he will be fighting on AJ’s side.  Jarrett feels insulted that he asked that question. Jarrett asks where the trust is at and says he has a lot of guts to question his loyalties. Jarrett says that AJ will see where his loyalty lies when the fourth member is revealed.

The Main Event Mafia comes out to the ring. Kurt Angle says that Kevin Nash can’t wrestle tonight because the doctor won’t clear him to wrestle. Angle says he wants Nash’s spot. AJ says they should forfeit and Angle questions Jarrett’s pull in the company. Jarrett says ok  and we have Angle vs Jarrett’s Mystery Man tonight.

Lauren is with Sheik Abdul Bashir, Kiyoshi, and Team No Limit. He just yelled into the mic, but what else is new.

Chris Sabin vs Homicide vs Naito

This is a little preview of the Jr. Heavyweight Tag title match. Sabin and Natio go right after Homicide. Sabin cuts off Naito and Naito doesn’t look to happy about it. Naito counters with a splash on Sabin but then runs into Homicide. Naito hits the whisper in the wind and a fisherman’s suplex for a two count. As Homicide tries to get in, Sabin hits a drop kick on him. Homicide climbs the top rope and hits a missle dropkick. This is a crazy match. Sabin brings Naito up to  the top rope and gets thrown off. Homicide hits the Gringo cutter off the top rope on Naito for the three count.  I really enjoyed this match. It was fast paced and extremely fun to watch. 4 out of 5 stars.

Balls Mahoney and Brother Runt show up at the Impact Zone.

Abyss is with Lauren in Jim Cornette’s office and they are interrupted with ODB and Cody Deaner. Jim Cornette is hilarious and he announces that Abyss and someone else will go against ODB and Cody Deaner later tonight.

Mike Tenay is with Jeff Jarrett and asks about Mick Foley and why he was brought in. He says Foley has single handedly changed the industry. Tenay asks about the chair shot on Sting. He says it was a match but it may have cost them getting Sting.  Tenay asks about Scott Steiner and asks why they have such a great relationship. He says that Steiner has always been there for him and his family. Jarrett says that he must take care of himself first and foremost.

Jeremy Borash is with the MEM and he asks about the match tonight. Kurt Angle says it doesn’t matter who it is as long as they get the man advantage in Lethal Lockdown.

Taylor Wilde, Awesome Kong, and Raisha Saeed vs The Beautiful People (Madison Rayne, Angelina Love, and Velvet Sky)

As the Beautiful People are heading to the ring, the other team attacks. Awesome Kong takes Angelina Love and hits the Implant Buster for the three count.  The Beautiful People hit Snake Eyes on Saeed and Wilde to incapacitate them. Kong is fighting back but it is no use, Angelina Love cuts Kong’s hair. A very quick match and definitely interested me in the match. 3 out of 5 stars.

TNA Rough Cut with Team 3D: I like the angle with New Japan. It was an interesting look into wrestling in Japan.

Team 3D is with Lauren and they are talking about the match tonight when they are interrupted by Balls Mahoney and Brother Runt. Balls says they are family and wishes them luck.

ODB and Cody Deaner vs Abyss and Daffney

ODB and Daffney trade chest bumps. ODB obviously wins and ODB takes control of the match. Daffney tags in Abyss and Cody Deaner must get in the ring. Deaner is getting a huge pop from the crowd, but he hits Abyss and gets nothing from his punches. Deaner turns his hat around and eats two slaps. Abyss hits a HUGE Black Hole Slam for the win. Matt Morgan comes out and starts beating up Abyss. Abyss fights back only to get hit by a carbon footprint. This was a good match and I really enjoy Deaner tagging along with ODB. 3 out of 5 stars.

JB is with Scott Steiner to ask about what he talked about with Jarrett. He says that they are personal.

Mick Foley interview with Cactus Jack. I’ll admit it this is weirder than what I imagined it would be. This is scary. Sting comes out to talk to Foley. Sting says that  he can’t believe what he saw and thinks that Mick believes what he did was real.  Sting says he isn’t intimidated and it doesn’t matter to him. Foley says that is the Sting he wants. The MEM music plays and Foley attacks Sting from behind. Sting then gets a beat down with Curry Man, Shark Boy, and even Sting’s music. Foley grabs the barbed wire bat and says he can do whatever he wants.

Beer Money Inc. are beating up Brother Runt and Balls Mahoney. This is a thorough beatdown to send a message to Team 3D. Beer Money take off as Team 3D run out to check on Balls Mahoney and Brother Runt.

Team 3D says they want to talk to Beer Money face to face. Brother Ray says it will be a street fight at Lockdown.

Lauren is with AJ and he says he has no idea who the wrestler is tonight.

Jarrett announces that Angle’s opponent will be Christopher Daniels. The “Fallen Angel” is back. AJ flips out in the back. Angle is a little shocked and doesn’t know how to react.

Kurt Angle vs Christopher Daniels

Christopher Daniels starts out the match in control. Daniels hits the split legged moonsault on Angle and earns a two count.  Angle hits a belly to belly suplex and sends Daniels over the top rope onto the floor.

Coming out of commercial, Angle is  still in control. Daniels and Angle hit a double clothesline in the middle of the ring. Daniels is up first and hits a few closelines and an STO. Daniels hits Blue Thunder and earns a two count. The two trade near falls, Daniels goes for the BME (Best Moonsault Ever)  but is caught by Angle for three German suplexes. Daniels uses a backslide for two and Angle hits the Angle Slam. Daniels kicks out and gets out of the Ankle Lock.  Christopher Daniels rolls him up for a three count. This was an incredible match. Pay per view type quality here. 4.5 out of 5 stars.

Cornette says that he was watching the match and saw it differently than Rudy Charles. Cornette was about to reverse the situation, but since Angle was running his mouth, he has the decision stands.

Jarrett comes to the ring coming out of commercial, and says that the decision will be reversed. This means Team Angle will have the advantage. Also, Daniels and Styles are angry at Jarrett.

Overall Promo Rating: 4 out of 5

Best Match: Christopher Daniels vs Kurt Angle

I will not have a worst match. They were all good.

Overall Rating: 3.7 out of 5 stars

I went 2 out of 3 this week. Also, sorry for no links. I have to get ready for lockdown tonight.
